hi all. new to this forum and enjoying my first BMW a '94 e36 318is N.A. model. i bought the car with an aftermarket alarm, a Prestige APS 996a, already installed. it doesn't function right even after re-programming. for example the valet mode express entry is wired to the passenger door, and i can not "double lock" should i choose not to arm the alarm. i discovered that the car still has the stock alarm head and i'd love to got back to stock. does anyone have experience with this alarm or is an installer that could tell me if i could remove it with out hours of re-soldering? thanks in advance.

I wish I had something helpful, but I couldn't dig it up. I know that there is an ebook out there describing it. It's an Alpine system, IIRC.
To tell you the horrible truth - the first thing I do with every car I buy is an alarm system-ectomy. They have given me no end of trouble, so I terminate them the first chance they get. Transistors tend to fail at the most inconvenient times.

Thanks Dave. i have finally found a pdf of the manual for the alarm. maybe i'll glean something from it. i was looking at going back to stock since it appears i have everything but the fob to reprogram it with. i did find the UAS plug and play systems though. anybody have experience with these. are they REALLY plug n play ? i have worked as an audio installer before (when i was young and flexible)but alarms are not my bag. thanks in advance.
