Title: Need motor mount recommendation
Post by: MrSlacker on February 19, 2013, 08:04:55 AM
Few months ago I "upgraded" to E28 535 green motor mounts per dude8383's recommendation. It took us a long time to get them to fit which should have been already a sign to go back to stock. However, we got them to fit and I did a 2 day track event on them and about thousand street miles. I noticed this weekend that my right side mount is under so much stress that metal portion of it is being ripped out. Car also vibrates more than I like it to at idle. Throttle response is pretty good, but its not enough to sacrifice ride comfort.

I have stock transmission mounts, ground control coils. Car is a weekend and track toy.

So experts, what motor mounts should I get now? Should I go with OEM?

No vibration = OEM. Everything else will vibrate since it is a perky 4-banger.

As an alternative to monty's suggestion, I can recommend Rock Auto. I've had mine installed for a good while and am happy with them.

I would be curious to do a side-by-side comparison and see what, if any, difference in NVH.

I think in this case I'll just go with OEM from the dealer. We have 25% discount so price isnt that terrible.

I don't want to save a few bucks with Rock Auto and then have to replace them in a year again.
