well after over a year of not being drivable, i might actaully drive my car in the next couple weeks. I was told the pistons wernt going to be here till the week after christmas (the week before i go back to school) but they came today. I still am not sure what i am going to do about connecting rods, either stock or VAC. I also have some stuff on the way from bma like heater core and a couple bearings. My diff should also be here next week too. Im hoping to have everything back from the machine shop on friday so i can go to work.

Looks like a hell of a project. I still have nightmares from the rebuilding days when I had my garage floor covered in stuff like that...seemed like EVERYTHING was well hidden within plain sight!
-
yes i am defiantly a victim of "while you are in there" and "while its not drivable anyways"
Its going to be nice to experience an e30 again. Im off to put the cluster back in

I still cant believe i bought this thing

is it scored all over the place or is that just dust? and can't believe you bought it good, or can't believe you bought it bad...?
-
its brand new

i just bought some m44 rods for 70 shipped next day air. hopfully monday this will be running
-
Awesome dude! Good luck.
-
thanks, im gunna need it. I took the engine apart like 5 months ago.
I also just emailed bav auto about getting 4 of their coils and one minute later i had a responce that if you call them you can get them individually.
I will run on the stock coils for a while but eventually upgrade to the COP

Damn man, cant believe its been that long. I just got to drive mine after it sat in winter storage for 1 1/2 months and that was killer. Ive got 3 months to go before I can drive it again.

well bmw only sent 2 wrist pin bushings to my local dealer, and the guy with the crank isnt going to be done till tmr becuase one of their machines is messed up. This dont look good for having it ready to assemble over the weekend. I also just remembered i forgot to order lifters
-
well it looks like tuesday i will have the block and stuff. ITs all bored but the crank isnt going to be done. Also a valve spring is mysteriously missing so MM sent another prioity, we'll so if that gets here tuesday, also bmw is having problems with the wrist pins i dunno what the deal with that is. Lifters should be here tuesday as well. I jsut got some corbeau FX1 pro seats so i can work on mounting those over the weekend. It will be nice to be able to see the gauges and fit in the car with a helmet.

What crank is it? m44 or m47? What is your setup consist of?
-
je pistons, m47 crank, m44 rods
I just got the block back from the machine shop. Am i supposed to be able to turn the crank over easily? I didnt mess with it to much but it seems like it gets harder to turn off TDC
-
whats "hard to turn" qualified as?
-
im just moving it with my hands on the counter weights.
-
i told my dad about 5 times not to but he insidted on carring on using the end of the crankshaft when he heped me caary it...
-
well false alarm i guess, i dunno what the deal with yeaterday was, all i know is i got up at 7:30 cause i couldnt sleep
-
haha, btw I had a nightmare that when i turned the engine over the pistons fell out the bottom of the block cause the stroke was too long, hahaha

Dreams are NOT subtle. Sounds like a nightmare alright.

well im back in town. hopefully i have everything i need!
-
well the slave came apart in the bellhousing, so i have to take the tranny off...
-
Looking good! Will be interesting to see how it goes when you're done. I'm about to get a spare lump for rebuild, so I'm toying with the idea of giong nuts and doing something similar.

well im back home from college. In the past couple days i have repalced the diff cover with an m coupe unit, replaced the diff sender connector, the reverse light sender connector, and worked on finishing up in install of the seats. also installed the m20 starter, did some other wiring and put on the lower intake manifold, and some other stuff i cant remember.
Tonight i tried priming the engine but after 20 or 30 seconds of cranking the oil light did not go off. I was really scared/pissed. I hooked up a jump starter to the battery and did it again and the oil light went off withing a few seconds, so i guess it just wasnt turning fast enough to make the light go off. im releived to say the least...
still have to bolt on the seat belt buckles, put fluid in the diff, and decide what injectors im going to use then put the upper manifold on.
