Title: Double Post Double Post
Post by: keflaman on January 16, 2013, 07:05:50 PM
I've quit hitting the "submit" button a second time after posting even though I receive the, "This forum requires 30 seconds..." statement.

Can this little quirk be corrected or is it something we'll have to live with?

Must be a spam delay.  I wasn't aware...doesn't happen to me.  Perhaps it's due to being a mod?

It seems to be random with me, but happening more often.

It happens to me all the time and I am not a Mod.

Hrm.  I know my sig says I'm an admin, but I'm still just a mod.  I'll see if Sheepdog can fix it up.

does it happen everytime you post? If you are posting to quickly you will get that message.

It doesn't happen every time. The usual scenario was that I hit "submit" and immediately got the message, "This forum requires..." even though I only pressed the submit button once.

I've made it a habit now to check the thread and see if my post went through before resubmitting in order to avoid the double post.

And ironically, I received the "This forum..." message as I posted my reply above.

+1 Nearly every time I post a reply I get that message, I only press submit once and the message pops up. I check the thread and my post is up but for some reason I always get that message.

It's gotten worse... It's every post I do now.

I wonder if this little quirk "doubles" my post count? It seems my count is going up quicker than usual. Then again, I like this forum the best.

I feel safe here.:D

LOL - glad this place makes you warm and cozy, Kef.

Sheepdog is contemplating a radical solution for this and a few other problems we've been fighting with - by swapping VBulletin for another forum platform.  He's been thinking about the new version of Simple Machines Forum (SMF).  I'm all for it personally, having set a few of those up over the years myself.
