Title: AFM to MAP conversion
Post by: blueboi69 on November 10, 2012, 01:07:28 PM
Hi!

Has anyone done a stock AFM to MAP conversion with stock DME? I think the AFM has a 0-4.5V linear output, what about a map sensor?

Maybe it be changed with somekindof amplifier.

What do you think?

There's a similar project going on right here, check it out (http://m42club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14832).  It's for a MAF, but BMWMan91 would know exactly what sort of data output you'd need.  A MAP would work really well with a Megasquirt, VEMS or other standalone.

IMHO, unless you're tuning the motor or need a rebuilt AFM ($$) there isn't a really good reason to replace the stock unit.  The flapper AFM isn't a bad choice - durable and not much of a restriction.  I'll bet a well-suited MAF would work out really well.

Hi,

Thanks, I'll check the other topic. I'd like to build some itb's, so I just thought of a map sensor rather than the stock AFM.
