Title: Exhaust help, need your help/opinions
Post by: doucy2 on December 08, 2006, 03:54:50 PM
well my m42 is getting poor milage, and the exhaust is louder then it should be. i took it to the shop and put it on the lift and sure enough there two leaks. one in the weld between the straight pipe and the muffler, and the other on the back of the muffler (looks like someone hit is with a hammer).

so after work I took it to the the local radiator & exhaust shop. they said they would put a good one on there for $70 (which isn't bad at all.)

my question is, is there something better that I can buy for my car (like performance), or am I just best off getting that replacement put on.

Just called Advance Auto Parts and Autozone to see if either carried the Dynomax Super Turbo muffler.  Advance ended up having some in stock at the price of $41.88. So I will be going and picking one up tonight.

Is the dynomax the one to have?  I ask because sooner than later my aftermarket can will have to go.  Let us know what is what.

So if my car has to warm up in the morning, will the neighbors discover I am parking an "extra car" in front of the townhouses while the E46 resides in the garage or, will I have the Aston Martin sound made famous in the Bond flicks?

(is this a run-on sentence?)

I also have wondered what to do for an exhaust. I got some patching stuff that looks like putty. I is holding up ok but my days are numbered. I have always heard that Dynomax droned at mid RPM - freeway speed - and that they sound rice. I don't have the bank to run Tri Flow or Supersprint. I'm also looking for options.
