Title: bmw management reading cables/software
Post by: Avtovaz on September 29, 2012, 01:02:54 PM: I have a E36 compact, it was 1600, its a 1998 car, i dont know if it had obd2 cable port or not, but i know it has nt now! I think i removed the plug not reolising what it iwas.

So, i have bought a 20pin type cable that goes to the k line, to a obd2 then to a serial type computer port.

the car now has a m44 from a 1997 car.

questins a re,

is there any software readibly available to use with this cable?
can i recode a key to my DME?

But maybe he can get it to work.

I'm pretty sure I made that all work on Win7...but if your brother can't, some versions of Vista and Win7 (Business, Ultimate) have a free downloadable version of XP-mode. You can run a full copy of XP inside Win7, emulated.
