Title: E30 M42 vs E36 Radiator Dimensions?
Post by: ClayW on September 25, 2012, 08:25:06 AM
Can someone tell me the dimensions of the E30 M42 radiator and the E36 radiator? I understand that the E36 radiator is a little bigger.

I'm looking to upgrade the radiator and I need the dimensions before I start ordering. Thanks in advance!

For clarity, I have an M42, but it's not in an E30; it's in my 1600 (http://www.tx02.blogspot.com).

e36 m42 radiator? If so, they are the same BMW part number so it should be same size. The m50 e36 is different and maybe that is what you are looking for?

Apologies; I should have been more clear. I am referring to the E36 radiator in this thread (http://www.m42club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8189), which seems to be a six cylinder radiator. I'm looking for the overall dimensions so that I can see if it will fit into my 1600.

It is thicker but no idea to the overall dimensions. Do you have a local junkyard in your area to visit? Hope some with one on this board can help you out.

My wife has an e36...I can measure it for you Clay.  Give me a day or two and I'll send you an email.  That is if you haven't already found it.

Clay, I would be interested to know if it fits also.  My 1600 engine bought the farm a few weeks ago and I have decided to venture down the M42 path.  This will be handy to know as I start collecting the parts.
