Yes its that time, already have welded the back part and now the cat has choked on a fur ball, the matrix i guess..shopped everything for best price and wound up with a catco stainless cat and pipes, for 210.00 the rear part is Ansa at 175.00, and the ebershpacher( apologies if I mangled the name) installation kit because all my original brackets are toast, at 59.00 for a grand total of 444.00 clams, which all arrived for a 60 dollar shipping and handling fee, making it 504.00. If I could have gotten free shipping it would been nice, but places with free shipping had either a higher price for the parts or had to order it, and I wanted it soon. I think, because I am fairly cheep, that I shopped everything pretty well. Maybe next time I can go with a performance system from the cat back, if I can find one..

ps- not an endorsement or a slam-they were ok to deal with and shipped it fast..I used Discount Exhaust

Timely post - I was just looking at mufllers. I was thinking that I should probably replace my cat as it's rattling away - whether matrix or heat shield it's the same difference.
That Ansa rear section includes the resonator, right? I'd need the clamps too, thanks for the reference!

yeah, the Ansa rear section has the resonator as well, and it is 1 peice. Thats probably why its expensive to ship it. Some of the other cheaper replacement systems are 2 peices, with a barrel clamp needed to hold em together.

The Ansa rear section is pretty nice and well made, for one of the cheaper systems. the catco cat was a total bust, did not fit the car. I dont know if they sent the wrong part or made it wrong, but they did at least offer a full refund including shipping, which is definitely a good sign. more on this when I actually get it:rolleyes:

I ended up getting the oem exhaust...cost me about $500 or so. I looked into ansa a little too. at least for the m20 ansa catback, there were rust issues after 1yr. idk let us know how yours holds up.

Do you think not running a cat would hurt anything?

I said f-it and opted into building mu own muffler and resinator. Going to go to a scrap yard and buy some sheet metal already have fence pipe and some fiberglass K-wool.
They use K-wool for metal castings in foundry to help castings retain heat in certian areas.
The stuff can withstand 1600ºF.
If I do end up building it ill post a write up on total cost and how too. I estimate a total cost of 20 $

Well time for update already on my OEM new exhaust. There is already surface rust on the pipes!!! This after less than 3 months after installed! Waste of $$. If I had known that was the case then I would have just gone with a ANSA
