My rims are 16's, but we had to put spacers on them to make them fit right.  Fine with me though because it widened up the stance a couple of inches.

I'm from the Bay Area.

LOL, I just took that sticker off today, I left my Grassroots mag and NASA sticker(it is on the other side, I haven't gotten another yet) on though.

Yeah it is, that picture was taken on Nov. 11 when I did my first HPDE with NASA.  It was SO MUCH FUN!!!  You ever driven there BrandC?

I drove on Sept. 1st, you can check GotBlueMilk.com and check the event. I was #318 in novice. Yes it is fucking fun driving at T-hill.

Yeah it is, especially at the top of the hill when you can't see the track.  My first lap I literally sat up in my seat to try and see the track.  After that though it was just a matter of trusting that the track would be there.

I missed the signup for HPDE 1 for Infineon next month, so I am going to try and go to Thunderhill in March.

I used to live in the bay too, but moved to Oregon and going to school up here now too.  Thunderhill is about 4 hours south, I've checked it out but never had a car to run.  Looks fun! How much do i need to save?

Love the car, looking clean and the GRM sticker tops it off.

BrandC, I checked out your car at gotbluemilk.com  Very nice, did you order any prints?  Were you doing an open track or how did you get out there?

///Motorsports- I am a NASA member so I do the HPDE's through them.  I believe it cost $49.99 to join NASA(Grassroots mag subscription included) and then $153 for the HPDE 1.  It was worth it, definately was a lot of fun.  By the way, what school are you going to?  You wouldn't happen to be a Duck would you?
Title: jpod999
Post by: BrandC on January 26, 2007, 01:52:03 PM
NASA runs terrible HPDE's. They are very unorganized since they are a huge organization that is focused more on road racing/auto-x than educating better drivers.

I go with an independent run group called TEAM Racing, it is a Spec Miata group. Bonnie Weatherwax (yes, a female road racer) is a Spec racer who offers excellent track days. Sometimes she offers trackdays as low as $110, in fact a few are coming up this season. I had great instructors and experiences with TEAM.

love the look, the semi flat looks good. just curious, but why didnt you just remove the fog fillers to paint them? also, i think a 325is oil cooler lower grill piece would look sweet with the black fog fillers, just my 2 cents.

I really thought about this too when I first installed my Euro grills. I couldn't believe how much of a gap there was. Another thing you might want to do while you're at it is to take some ABS plastic sheet and emulate the Euro grill block off areas behind the grill for added aerodynamics(if there is any on our E30 models, haha). I've recently switched back to US grills using Kamei eyelids and did this same thing.

Title: jpod999
Post by: jpod999 on March 26, 2007, 06:33:08 PM
I decided to get the clears because I don't have smoked headlights and I thought that these would match my smilies that I have yet to put in better.  I didn't change the bulb...they aren't orange either so I guess I could get pulled over for that if a cop hasn't had his donuts.

Wil, on the top of the turn signal lenses there is a little lip, is that supposed to do anything?

It says FIFFT on the front on the side with no lip.  If I put in the lenses so that FIFFT is readable and not upside down, the lip would be on the bottom.  Is that right or does the lip go on the top?
Title: jpod999
Post by: turbo_negro69 on March 28, 2007, 11:21:15 PM
the lip goes on the bottom, and when you put 'em on make sure you take off your old housings and clean them up with some soap and water, and take out the reflectors and polish 'em up real nice.
whenever you're feeling brave enough to spray that trim leme know.

This is sort of my plan now too since the po must have let all types of gravel, rock, dirt, bird poo, tree sap just sit and accumulate on top of the car. It looked like he brushed it all off with a broom.

SEM trim paint.  Best stuff straight up.  Don't buy anything besides SEM, it will just be a waste of time.

Light sanding of 400 grit sand paper, just a quickie so that you can see the scratches.  Then rubbed it down with rubbing alcohol.  Then sprayed it.  Working pretty good so far.

Yeah, that's my mom's car.  Sometimes I have a hard time getting out of the car because she is parked so far over.  Pisses me off, but I don't want to park outside.

It is very fixable, but I don't know if I want to fix it AGAIN!! since I'm not too far off from having the red 318is ready to drive, I don't know what the hell I want to do with the 4 door:confused:

Mickey Mouse it and sell it to someone that want's good gas mileage.  Put it back to stock first though...

Yeah, HID's are so much better than halogens.  I am running 6000k bulbs.

Are they the ebay conversion type or what? Were they very difficult to install?

Yeah, $100 for the whole kit.  Took me 30 minutes to install.

Please let us know in 1 or 2 years if it's still running. Generally the no name brands have ballast issues right around 1 year. I have talked to one of the main US distributors recently though and he has said their QA testing have improved significantly since the 1st generation versions. I think they are up to version 4. Because of this, I suspect you'll see more and more vendors selling no name HID kits with decent warranties in the near future.

If you don't mind spending a bit more for peace of mind, Apex Cone and their rebranded kits offer lifetime warranty.

Either way, HID kits have gotten pretty cheap over the years. I remember when I paid $500 back in the day.

The kit that I bought comes with a 14 month warranty.

4.10 LSD was installed in my car yesterday.  I will report back on how sideways action is done soon.

BTW, did a mod go through and rename all the titles to the threads in this sub-forum to the name of the poster?

Too true, my dad's infiniti FX35 needed whole new assemblies after a year and a half. i guess the ballasts aren't availible seperately...

Love the progress your car has made, it looks great. Still think an iS lip would do wonders though :)

Definately not going to be getting one.  I like the i lip much better, and if I ever decide to spend the money on this car...I can go very very low.

If I went that low, I'd buy a skidplate too.

Will - sideways is so much easier to do now.  I spun out in the rain the other day because I wasn't used to the LSD.  Gave me a chuckle.

lolz me too ;)

I was goin around a newly-build roundabout that was covered in dust the other day and figured I'd give it a bit of gas :). 2nd gear at 4k drifted once around the circle and right out the exit. I really wish I had a camera in the car...

BTW what rims are on the Delphin car in the pic? Not sure I've seen those before, but I like them.
