Title: About...
Post by: vatos_p on December 04, 2006, 01:25:36 AM
because i am making everything from zero , sideskirts and rear bumper will me done in the summer ( because of the weather ) , also when i finish doing the side skirts and the rear bumper , i will be doing a hood scoop to put a v-mount intercooler because i am going to put a litle gismo into my baby ( garrett GT 28-60 ) , and when all tis finish i am going to paint the front bumper side skirts and rear bumper red again , and my hood is going to be carbon...

i thing it would look very nice , and it will be going like hell ( 1 bar of pressure = 300++ hp )...

with hope !!!!

( every part i am going to make is hand-made , from manifold to sideskirts , and i am very proud of that )

that difuser is quite bold, but I love it.  I bet if you had an aftermarket rear valance it would be insane.

i will be replacing it , in the summer with polyester or carbon , but for now , with this weather i can not work with the polyester fiber or carbon...
once the weather gets better i will be doing the hood also ( fabricating the intercooler into it )... i know it is insane , that's why i love it..........i love my bimmer and i want it to stand from the crowd , so people can see what the germans where making almost 20 years ago....

my friend chriss says : when bmw had ijnection systems , everybody else was  just going out of the caves... ( hahaha )

Looks pretty radical. I'm sure you'll have lot of people trying to race you. Hopefully you have more than 200hp or drive around a lot of twisty roads. ;)

Haha!... He is getting a turbo, which probably means he is going to have more than 140hp. (wow, for some reason I can't stop laughing)...we dont even have a SMILEY to show my laughter...now I am dizzy.

your kit is wild but tasteful. i like it!

that diffuser would go well with that license plate filler.

i say go for a different exhaust though. something like an oval or horizontal oblong would like SWWEeeeeeeTT

I think your original exhaust in the first pic looks nicest. I don't know what to think about the diffuser and your current exhaust. I like the E30 for it's understated design and with those it's kind of more stand-outish. But if that's what you like, to each his own. It does have a nice flare to it. :)
Title: i will tell you why

why?

we ( me and my friend chriss ) where thinking to do , what dahlback did in his golf r32(1050 hp for those who do not know hans dahlback ) , that is : he has one exhaust normal , with silencers going out from one side , and one exhaust free of anything , and has a buypass valve witch take place to change the exhast when the turbo comes on and more exhaust gass is coming... he succeeds to be very quiet in low rpm , but have all the flow he can get in high rpm...(clever eh?) , so we where thinking something like that...
but i do not know if we will make it....

Check out the Ouick Time Performance web site site for a cool bypass valve It would be perfect for your dual exhaust setup. When I get our BMW back on the road I'm going to put one on for track duty and some red light encounters! They ship everywhere.

you could always go to most speed shops and get an electronic cutout , and just have a y pipe, one end with exhaust, one end with nothing...it would sound kinda odd with two exhaust's and it only coming out from one side...

I will be very interested to see the end product of your car. It will be very interesting and different to say the least.;)

Can't wait to see the final product! Looks like you could inhale a dog with that-how many turbos?

Looks sweet, good job on the parts, definitely something few if any have ever done before. ;)

I Will Tell You Only One Thing..... My Turbine Is Gt25/40r That Is Ar.70 , .86 Compressor , And Pressure Comes On In 2800 Rpm... Think About It , With Top Mount Intercooler ( That Is No Lag At All ) ....

At This Time I Am Going To Work 0,5 Bar Pressure , And When I Am Done I Am Going To Dyno The Car And Give You The Results... But In The Future ( When I Get The Money ) I Will Take It To 1,2 - 1,5 Bar....

I Will Need Pinstons , Gasket , Cams Reprofile , So It May Take Some Time ( I Am No Millionare , Just A Regular Working Man ) ....

uhhh...all turbos have lag, especially fairly large ones like this. The intercooler simply cools the incoming air for a more efficient charge.

think what would of happend if the intercooler was mounted front ( normal ) and what the lag would be , if compresed air sould go arount 1,5 meter of tube to get to the intake , and what will be the lag now that compresed air only has to go through the intercooler to get to the intake... think about the air temp and velosity...

everybody thinks that it is not so important , but i will tell you this , why most famous drift cars in japan have top or v mount intercooler ? did you ever think about that ? is it for fun or does it realy have a diference ? did you think that i would spend weeks of fabricating a hood ( not mention the monay i spend ) for nothing ?
Title: MY baby ( MY biimer )
Post by: Alpine003 on May 24, 2007, 10:59:01 AM
In addition to the length of piping, the type and quality of the intercooler also can impose a pressure drop across it which can contribute to the lag. One of the potential downsides to top mount is all the heat soak from the engine but it seems like you designed a well ventilated system. Hopefully you'll be fabbing up some kind of intercooler sprayer for those hot days. ;)

i am also making the intercooler compartment inside the engine indipendant from the engine , the hot air from the engine is not going to mix in any way with the intercooler , or the cold air that will be goint to the intercooler....i am going to seperate engine-intercoooler , so i think i am not going to have a problem....

anyway , i am going to post pictures of what i will do , when i do it...
