Title: US elips question
Post by: doucy2 on November 29, 2006, 08:24:58 PM
getting a parts car with US elipsoids, will they plug right into where my normal headlights are now?

also dumb question but what is the difference between the elips and the normal headlights?

i believe the plug is slightly different, but the wires are all the same.  as for the difference between the two, the elips are projectors that use 9006 bulbs.  they are much brighter than sealed beams. nice find.  what kind of parts car is it?

I have a set that are brand new.  I ended up getting a set of euro because the US ones where in bad shape.  Let me know if you need pieces or parts.

So all I need to do is strip the wires and sodder or crimp them together, then seal with electric tape :) ??

The process is not difficult.  There are several DIYs out there.  I will take pics tomorrow and post them.  I can throw some heat shrink in there for you if you want the set.  Tape would prob work but I feel better with heat shrink.

Please solder them. Considering you live in snow territory, it doesn't take too long for connections to corrode. Vampire taps and Crimps = no no for longevity and reliability in corrosive environments.
