Title: Fitting M40 parts onto M42: A/C compressor, P/S pump
Post by: pantsless on August 27, 2012, 10:25:50 AM
Realoem pretty much answered my question, but maybe someone knows if there are any alternatives.

I have an 316i with power steering and A/C.

I have a 318is with no power steering and no A/C.

When swapping the M42 into the 316, will I need to source an M42-specific A/C compressor + bracket and power steering pump + bracket? Any compatibility in this regard with using the M40 parts?

I'd assume they're the same, but I have no idea.  I was under the impression that the M4x blocks are all the same.  Also, the P/S pumps seem standard over many different cars.  My 633CSi uses one that looks very similar.
