Post by: AL GReeNeRy on November 25, 2006, 10:43:47 AM
so i read on many different files that the 318is gas tank should hold 14.1 gallons.  mines only holds about 12 gallons.. ive driven SEVERAL times with the gas light on for MILES on the freeway.  have done between 30-60 miles with the light on before filling up, and the most ive gotten is around 12.3ish

My roommate and I keep having arguments about this. He owns the 91 318i that I am buying off of him in 2 months. I keep telling him it is probably 13.1 gallons just like most foreign cars. Reason being...13.1 gallon = 20 liters. Nice round number when you use the metric system.

Can anyone tell us exactly what it is?

as i stated before, the factory claims 14 gallons, however i can only fill up about 12.  13 gallons might be about right, because there is that spare gallon.  ive never ran out of gas in this car before, so i cant tell exactly how much it holds

When I wait till the light comes on to put gas, I can only put in 45 liters max. The other 10 liters is to make sure you can reach a gas station.
