As the title says i am new to THIS forum. I am the current owner of a 1995 318ti and I recently decided that i was going to get my dads 91 318i running. I've begun the process of just getting the car running and i've already hit a brick wall. The whole fuel pump assembly basically either rotted out to the point where the nickel plating and rubber melted into the gas tank. Hopefully i'll get this thing running by the end of the week or beginning of next. Hope to learn a lot from the older members on this forum as i did in the ti forums.

Good luck & welcome to the 'club! Post some pics! I've always has a soft spot for the 'unloved' compact (BMW marketing really messed up with that car). One of these days I'll have one, but it's tough to find one in decent shape.
Sounds like you have your work cut out for you...don't worry though, the tank is identical to many other e30's. There are three different e30 tanks IIRC. We get the 55L one, along with the M10 and most M20 etas. The larger 66L tank from the 325i will fit as well, but has dual fuel level senders and needs some rewiring. The M3 Euro remote fuel tank is a very odd beast, if you find one of them hold onto it for the collectors!
I have a brand new OEM BMW tank if you need one, they're also on EBay for $200ish IIRC. I only found used ones though.

Thanks for the welcome. I will be posting up some pics of the black sheep of the BMW family later along with a few pictures of the 318 later on

LOL, BMW black sheep.
IMHO BMW has only had a few over the years. Some of my favorite BMWs are seen as black sheep (by the sheep, anyway)...cars like the 2000CS, Glas coupes and the M42-engined e30 & e36 cars.
My personal 'black sheep' suggestions would be the L6, anything with a V12, any X5/6 station wagon, any M car without a manual transmission, and (worst of all) the e65 7-series...

^^^ Desktop Dave!
Our feelings on these issues clearly converge.
