Title: Springs and shocks installed.
Post by: FL318is on November 19, 2006, 10:01:25 AM
Living right!:D

Got the new H&R sports and Bilstein sports installed and the ride is
sue-wheat!  Got some twisties near the house and now I own them.  The height is visually more appealing but does not seem to be dangerously low.  Although I wil be watching the road terrain more closely.

Awesome, what route did you go with the springs... H&R 29964's? I think pics of your car are now overdue ;)

I have to do some pics today.  Car is a little dirty.  The springs I believe are the equivalent of the 29964.  They are the ones that lower the car 1.3".  I will find the numbers today.  Clearance is not an issue at this point but I do watch where I drive.

Title: OK but...
Post by: FL318is on November 20, 2006, 03:01:00 PM
...these are rough pics.

1-I think you can see the height change.
2-This is my attempt at performance enhancement CAI
3-Local bird that was eating lunch as I took these pics
4-Height and wheel clearance
5-Straight frontal on
6-I like the look and performance of the new suspension

I have a long way to go but having fun (and mistakes) getting there.  Any input is welcome.

How much do you have invested in the setup ??
any rubbing issues yet ??
I need to do my suspension and was thinking of blistein touring shocks and struts but not lowering .
I have to do some research and see what the cost difference is.
Unless someone has already done that and would like to share notes ???

Oh Yea, Your car looks good
Title: Thx

I have heard both sides of the spring/strut issue.  From what I gather there are pros & cons.  In my case most of the roads here are "flat" so the oil pan issue is not as critical as some of the roads I have read about on this forum.  As far as rub, not at all.  I will be going to 16x7 later and do not see a rub issue even with bigger tires.

With the H&R sports and the Bilstein sports I def got a lowering so if you do not want a lower stance, I would not recommend them.  I find the ride to very comfortable and not at all rough.

Thanks for the compliment.  I feel like my car has a long way to go and may return to the 4 headlight config and re-route the CAI later.

I spent about 600 on springs and shocks.

I am not finished or completely sold on the front end yet.  Just playing while I get the mech stuff done first.

I will be getting an IS lip spoiler down the road.

Was gonna say...  I like the intake screen, not sure on the "BMW Emblem" high beams...  You need to get some euro grilles, an iS lip spoiler, loose the center caps, and a euro rear plate filler.

Lookin' pretty good though.  These cars are all a work in progress.

You live in Florida but you don't have tints?

Schedule problem.  Been on the drawing board for about a month and hopefully the weekend after T Day it will be done.

BTW, caps are off!

Well get to it son! I just got mine tinted 2 weeks ago and it's been 35 degrees and overcast ever since. How's that?

I'm with Asubimmer on that one.  I painted my iS lip and rear spoiler with black "truck bed liner"...  Easy to paint with and looks great!

Plus, if I chip or scrape it, it's an easy fix!

I have several chips on my lower lip already and only had it on for a few weeks. I second the "truck bed liner" paint for the lower lip.

Regarding tints, most of you are lucky in the fact that Illinois and only 1 other state has the stupid no tint law for the front windows.  Just got a $50 ticket the other day while I was parked on the street.

I think with the potholes here in Maine I'm going to stay stock.
I don't want to rip off the oil pan.
Do like your car though:)

I have seen an E30 with a spliter lip spoiler.  Dosen't look half bad.  It would solve a clearance issue.  I took the caps off but was wondering how to keep debris out.

That tint law is ridiculous.  I might get the front window tinted as well.  If I do it will be a very light tint so as to not get a ticket.  While I like the contrast of black trim on a white car, I will be going a different direction.  The black side mouldings and the black lower sections will be painted to match the car. Notice the driver's door handle.  I found a set of Konig black mesh with silver lip 15s I might get.  I like the black rim look.

Bottom line. You guys have some very sick rides and I am just trying to catch up.  This part time job money goes quick.

Just don't let yourself get pimped out. I don't want to see you on the news standing on a corner with a pink mini skirt.:D
