Title: Control check panel plug?
Post by: NW91e30i on March 27, 2012, 10:47:08 PM
I just purchased a 91 318i that was missing the rear view mirror and the control check panel. I picked up used parts from an '86 325es. My '91 has a four wire plug in that location, and the '86 plug has about 20 wires. Can I make this work? Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!

This is probably the quickest answer to your question:

Not to say it couldn't be done, but if you want all the lights to work there's a lot of wiring involved. What you bought is probably best for filling the empty hole overhead.

Thanks for the answer. So... what was in the hole by the mirror?

Originally, we only have a light panel on our M42 e30's.  It's just a plain black panel with a few status lights.

I deleted mine, but IIRC there's just a seatbelt light and one for the airbag/SRS system.  Basically that little connector is just for two light bulbs.  It's not a check control at all on the M42 models.
