Title: Hong Kong Special: Reset Tool
Post by: Gabs on March 19, 2012, 03:32:21 PM
Not sure If any of you have tried jumping the OBD pins before to reset your service indicators. Well I had, for some time I've been resetting my Oil life indicator by jumping pins (cant remember which ones off the top of my head) on the OBD Port. Came across a tool on Ebay made in Hong Kong, that simply does this in a more organized fashion. In total it cost me about $9 Canadian shipped.

I generally don't trust cheap tools from Hong Kong or china, but this tool preforms such a simple task, ie. connecting 2 pins via a button, that I figure what can ever go wrong.

I have a similar one (that arrived with a copy of CarSoft 6.5).  It doesn't reset the airbag light, but it does at least reset the service indicator & oil change lights...

I'm messing with a GT1 clone now...I'll report on success or failure...

Haha I hear what your saying Geoff, I've been using the same technique for a couple years. My Issue was while cleaning my tool boxes and car, I would come across my 6inch wire with 2 male ends on it and usually throw it out, forgetting what project I was using it for. So I suppose the $9 is a substitute for my shabby memory.
