Title: Changing fluids
Post by: lqbanotxano on February 11, 2012, 06:57:26 PM
Has anyone noticed any difference in the operation of the vehicle/engine/trans etc....after changing the fluids? Especially if done so after many miles...like 100,000 or more.
Have you noticed the heater warming faster or lower engine temperatures, after coolant flush/change? Or, the steering working different after the change of power steering reservoir/filter & ATF flush?
Any noticed difference in the operation of the clutch or brakes, after a brake fluid flush?
I am getting ready to do all of the above & was just wondering.

Nope. Maybe just a slightly harder brake pedal.  I end up changing most annually, except for coolant maybe every two years or so.

Oh - except for the transmission.  I have an ATF (yellow?) label G240 & tried synthetic 75w-180? gear oil...it never felt right.  I went back to ATF and it's been "back to normal" ever since.

I noticed the car runs a bit cooler after the replacement of coolant, thermostat and water pump but that is not something unexpected.
