Title: Quick Lower Pan Gasket Question...
Post by: Alpine003 on November 09, 2006, 04:24:07 PM
I just received my lower pan gasket in the mail and it already had some silicone type substance on the area's where you're suppose to put gasket sealant I'm assuming.

Can anyone confirm which areas need the sealant on the gasket? Pics or diagram would be great.

Mine was like this and was just coated gasket paper - no sticky on it.

We used a gasket sealant on the seal and some pink stuff (not loc-tite) on the bolt threads.  And remember, don't laugh at the mech impaired.  Just because my tools have no grease on them dosen't mean they are used.:p

Mine was also like that as I realized the silicone stuff was only on the upper pan gasket.

Took off the lower oil pan yesterday and didn't like what I saw. The oil pickup bolts were fine and still tight but there was other debris in the oil pan that partially blocked oil from being sucked up. Pics to follow later...

Time to do a compression test...

I bought both from the dealership and they both are just paper, no sticky...
