Post by: warrenbrown on December 27, 2011, 10:53:32 PM
Anybody know if the heater blower can be removed with the intake manifold still in place on a E30 318is (m42).

i don't know, you can try and if it doesn't come out with the manifold on, removed it.

When I replaced the resistor, there seemed to be plenty of room to pull the blower out as well?
This write-up seems to confirm it: http://www.ehow.com/how_5348410_replace-bmw-blower-fan.html

And the answer is yes, you do not need to remove the intake manifold.  I did temporarily remove the wiring from the plastic guide by cutting 4 wire ties, I don't know that it was necessary. The hardest part was reinstalling the spring clip that holds the motor in place.

thanks for the update. I'm sure blowing some warm air is a good feeling about now in NJ... :)
