Why do you need a new DME EEPROM? You can get the stock 990 BIN from here (http://www.tunerpro.net/download/bins/BMW/318i_ecu990_soft070.bin), a $40 chip burner and a couple $9 EEPROMs will write one up. You might have to disable EWS, or align it with the car.
Mark D has a great chip (http://www.dsylva-tech.ca/) for your car. Check that page about halfway down. He usually puts his on sale every now and then too...it's $230 right now, just make sure he knows exactly which DME you have...
Here's the Jim Conforti chip for $240 (http://www.koperformance.com/BMW/engine/jim_conforti_performance_chips/jim_conforti_performance_chip_e36_318.htm), you can't go wrong with either one from what I've heard.
