Title: WTB/WTT for DME's to experiment on...
Post by: DesktopDave on December 01, 2011, 04:42:49 PM
If you have a dead/dying/weak DME, please LMK.  Shorted is OK, flooded is OK, burned likely isn't.

I'll send a bit of money, advance credit for potential future DME repair, or accept a trade.  I have power sunroofs, cruise control bits, trim stuff, etc.

I'm looking to repair my spare 175 DME, needs a coil driver.  Make/model is pretty unimportant..anything M42 M44 or even M50 would be great.

Dave,
I have a fully functioning DME out of a 91' 318i I would gladly unload. I am interested in cruise control (currently driving a 91' 318iS) modification know-how/parts. Let me know.

I have a perfectly working M42 ECU. I'd sell it for cheap or possibly trade for something or another!

I'm specifically looking for broken ones...I want to see if I can repair the ignition drivers.  They're hard to solder correctly and I need the practice.

Our DME's run four of these these odd Bosch-specific darlington IGBTs, haven't found info on them despite hours of digging.

FYI, check s14.net for information on repairing the Darlington-type drivers.

I'll check that out, good tip.  I spent a while trying to track it down but I didn't dig anything up from them.
