Does anyone else have this or a similar setup?
Thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

I ran Bilsteins in my e34 525iM. That's a far different car...but IMHO Bilsteins are a tad too harsh for me.
Wish I did have a suspension upgrade on the 318i...I'm still running stock. I've heard most really like the combo with H&R Sports instead of their race springs.
I'd double check the part numbers too...I suspect that a lot of vendors will sell the six-cyl parts instead of the rarer 4-cyl parts.

I say ... GO FOR IT!
The 318is I just bought has Bilsteins and Tokico lowering springs, which are a rough equivalent to H&R sport springs.
The car rides and handles wonderfully. It is not harsh. The ride height and "stance" (I hate that trendy term, but it's useful) is perfect.
My frame of reference is a little screwy however, because I've been daily driving an STX-prepped autoX e30 that has race dampers and much higher spring rates.

I say go for the Billies and H&Rs unless you plan to autocross, in which case the setup will not function as well.

vert rear sway, stock front sway (just till spring), H&R race, billy sports, every bushing but guibo is poly....I LOVE IT
z3 rack is coming up next with ST front sway

Well in the long term I'm putting front and rear struts, put on sportier sways and then replacing all my bushings and tie rods since they need to be replaced semi soon anyway.

Depends on your age and what kind of ride/comfort level you want.
I have a S52 E30 with yellow Bilsteins and H&R OE sport springs. Even with all the extra weight of the S52 holding down the front end, the Bilsteins are way to stiff for me. Sadly, the suspension is an E36 5-lug and the strut choices are very limited.
When I find the right 318is slicktop, I will be running sport springs and KYB struts/shocks for a cushier, more compliant ride.
Good luck with your choice.
