hello just like the topic says has anyone tried and different model ICV with success if so which model and how does the car react on idle and running... any input would be great as mines is going bad and cleaning it doesn't do justice anymore and i lucked out for a new one on ebay for $40 but if this one doesn't work for any reason I've seen that other models are very cheap...

I was looking for a 90 degree two-wire, but didn't have any luck yet.
I did note that some earlier BMWs have two different plugs. An e30 M20 eta had both the large old-style round two-pin connector and the smaller two-pin Bosch connector that our cars use. I've been tempted to try it out, but haven't done it yet.
The M30 ICV definitely won't work...it's a three-pin. Cross-ref the part number at BMWfans.info (http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/13411433627/)...Looks like it's only shared by the M40, M42 & M43.

thanks Dave always appreciate your help.. i was thinking the same thing as i will order the silicone hose kit next week to match my intake bellow... but our ICV are so damn expensive as others are so cheap like i said i lucked out for a "new" as the seller on ebay stated for $40 as my old one is going bad quick... maybe ill order a cheap one from another model that may have the same connectors and see if it will work... do you think it will cause any damage to the ECU if the wrong one is plugged if so i wont risk it

Test the resistance. It's directly controlled by the DME...if you have something with low or high resistance it'll burn out the driver and kill your DME.
Alternatively, you could eliminate it & run a choke. I'm not joking, it's possible to run without it. I haven't done it myself, but I've heard it's possible from reliable sources.

yes ive tried running it and but the RPMs stay at above 1k and i did run it with the arrow facing the other and it smoothed it out for about a month then started stalling the motor whenever i would stop suddenly.. i will test the resistance and see but for now i will have to wait till this ICV comes in the way so far i think i fixed the bouncing take for now by adjusting the cable on the throttle but who knows as for the little rubber grommet keeps moving out, so i will have to find some sort of clamp to hold it in place.... thanks for the info i want to get this fixed asap as its embarrassing at the light and the car revving up and down

for those who still read this thread... i just want to say how some people rag on Ebay alot... i must say that when you're in need of something Ebay is one of the best place.... as you can see i was in a real need for a idle control valve unit and stumble upon one on ebay for $40 bucks with free shipping... when i received it in the mail it was brand new in the box sealed once i put it in my car smoothed out so much better and i think it made the car perform better... Ebay came thru for me...
