Post by: datkins23 on November 05, 2011, 08:26:10 PM
Have any of you all had any experience with the Beck Arnley Fuel Pump Hangar Assembly part number 152-0993? Amazon has it listed at  http://www.amazon.com/Beck-Arnley-152-0993-Electric-Fuel/dp/B004LGENX4/  (http://www.amazon.com/Beck-Arnley-152-0993-Electric-Fuel/dp/B004LGENX4/)for $99.

Thanks,
Don

I've used Beck-Arnley pumps in the past with zero issues.

Well the thing works but the electrical connector on top interfered with the fuel sending unit. I trimmed some of the plastic from the connector but not enough. I went this approach because I was picking the car up 400 miles from home and  did not have the time to put a new pump on the hanger.
Thanks.

My son installed one in his 318is and the connector on the pump assembly was wired reverse polarity so it was running backwards, blowing bubbles in the tank!

For speed and ease, he had to cut his harness wires and splice them opposite.

I have never had problems w/ Beck Arnley parts. I'm sure it was an anomaly.

I had the same issues as Don on my 1991 318i; the white plastic electrical connector on the top of the Beck/Arnley unit interferes with the OEM VDO sending unit- had to trim away about 3/16" of the connector body for sending unit to seat and seal properly.  I was worried about the connector seal leaking but it seemed to hold.

However, my pump started to get very noisy after about 9 months and died altogether after about 12 months.  When I removed the pump from the tank, I also noticed that one end of the cheap plastic in-line connector they use to join the pump outlet to the hanger fuel pipe had separated and was barely hanging on; I dont know why they just didnt use a section of high quality 5/16" ID fuel hose and a couple stainless steel clamps- oh yes I do...$$$.
