I got a volvo lip and liked it at first, then I hated it. I think the car looked better without it after a while. Now I have been looking for cheap is lips. It is amazing how the factory "I" lip is only about 60 bucks but the is lip which is not that much bigger is about 5 times that price.
After searching ebay I have found Polypropylene lips for 100 bucks. (The cheaper ones get you on shipping) What is the difference between the polypropylene lips and the oe and are they worth it? A new I lip is 40 bucks. 100 is not that bad.
Has anyone ever bought one and did you think they are worth it? Thank you

25 dollars cheaper thats why. Why pay 5 dollars for a burgerking hamburger when I can get the same one from MickyD's for 3.
That is why I am asking about the Polypropylene lips I see on ebay. Cheaper and look exactly like the oe one :rolleyes: Also I feel that those are not Oem either. Mystepdad can not get the "is" lip for under 170 (I believe) and he has a whole sale account with BMW.

I dunno ... saving 25 bones on an IS lip? ok, it's really $15 right because of the clips which you'd have to buy. I'd question the quality of the lip given that I believe Blunt sells the OEM ones. What's the quality worth to you? If the OEM product is the same, then I guess you're set with the cheaper ebay lip.

Hardware included if I am not mistaken. Even if they are not I can get them for about 50 cents a clip.

this can explain you what polypropylene is.. basically sounds like recycled plastic to me.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polypropylene (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polypropylene) .....also if you wanna go for a good looking lip right now then go cheap so you can spend again replacing it in the future when it goes dull, breaks e.t.c or you can spend the extra money for a good quality lip and have it last you a good amount of time ... general rule applies you get what you pay for and also if you pay cheap you hardly care about it, you pay the extra money you will take care of it

e30 you have a good point, however you are not correct. Sometimes going cheap is better. Not because of money, but because the product is better. I mean I can go to Advance auto and get a cheap set of rotars for 32 a pop. However I can go online and get the same rotor or even better for half of that.

Sounds better than the OEM lip if you ask me.
My guess is that the Oem one is made of of a cheaper plastic. From what I am finding the Polypropylene are actually better and are not sustanable to road rash as much. But I am not convinced untill someone who has bought one actually knows. Or someone who knows something about them

LEE youre right as well but understand OEM will always be more expensive than anything else because you are buying the same product but with the OEM brand behind it....example say the is lip are from the same manufacture but OEM is more expensive because it has a BMW logo stamped on it to identify its OEM and the other doesnt so its considered aftermarket so its sold less.... i have as well lucked out on cheap items that preform better than oem but i always research before i buy and see if its worth it.... i would hardly go oem unless there is no other choice or i like the was OEM is designed better than aftermarket.... EBAY is a great example of products sold for a cheap price but thats a hit n miss area

I'd go for the sedan lip personally...as I have a sedan...otherwise I have no opinion either way.
Polypropylene would be an excellent choice for a lip, if it was thick enough. I have a poly fairing on my bike and it's held up well for nearly 30 years. They're not very crash or UV resistant though. It'd definitely need painted.

I didnt know they made that type of material for fairings on bikes makes me questiong which one i have since i bought it from ebay.... i as well have a sedan with no lip didnt know it was suppose to have one till i saw the clips but im thinking of a infinity lip with splitter or just the M-tech II front with a possible splitter if it looks good

PP is a great materiel for fairings (especially for off-road bikes, quads & snowmobiles), very crash-resistant & takes paint nicely. Most street bikes use Polycarbonate & ABS, more exotic race kits are fiberglass or even CF.
I think our bumper covers might be PP...I'll have to check that out for sure.
My minivan has some PP side skirts...the passenger side survived a curb strike recently. The nylon clips all paid the price but the skirt survived. A few mounts cracked internally but unbelievably the paint didn't even chip.
Biggest problem with PP and PE (polyethylene) is repair, it typically has to be plastic welded. Most epoxies will not work on PP or PE.

Really?? the body kit i bought the seller said it be my upper and lowering fairings are ABS fiberglass sides but my front and rear fenders are carbon fiber. i love it spend a good amount of money but the outcome the bike looks amazing.... well if our bumpers are in the poly material that can explain why its bent on some area with small hair line cracks similar to fiberglass but dont detect any signs of fiberglass....

I'm welding up the side skirt right now. Who knew used yogurt cups could be so useful? Some Yoplait might just end up in my BMW.

The fact that I had an OEM "is" lip and some one stole it. Its like eating fast food china food all the time. Yes they are ok and Cheap like the volvo lip. But once you eat at P.f.Changs Quick china food is not that good anymore.

lol its a good think i dont like pf changs hahahahahahah. well i have one kid and another on the way and im the only one working so i have to build mine on a fast food budget , its the story of my life i get to drool at your cars and hope one day im there, but for now .....volvo lip hahaha. thanks for the input
