What a breath of fresh air. I completely loved it. The entire time while watching, it had this 80's vibe to it. Kind of like when you watch old reruns of Miami Vice. I haven't seen such creative passion in the making of a movie in a long time. The soundtrack was icing on the cake. I loved the long awkward pauses. The protagonist is the strong, silent type, and Ryan Gosling was perfect for the role. He was to "The Driver" (he has no real name in the movie) as Brad Pitt was to Tyler Durden.
It's right up there next to "Heat" for me. I'm definitely going to buy the 1080p BluRay when it comes out.
If you like this movie, but haven't seen it, watch "Once Upon a Time in the West". Also one of my favorite movies.

I'll have to check into it. Long time since I've seen a decent movie. I did watch "The Bourne Ultimatum" again (at least I think that's which one it was). Lots of fun in that film.
My wife commented that Jason Bourne is "like our generation's James Bond." I thought that was very appropriate.
Speaking of 'our generation,' I haven't seen any Miami Vice in a looong time. I might have to put it on the NetFlix queue.

i hated it and am surprised every car enthusiast doesn't feel the same way. it was creative, the cinematography was good, and the acting was good. BUT, it had two major issues that i just couldn't get past.
1. overall, it was a chick flick. with a little action, a little drama and a little suspense mixed in.
2. it's major, MAJOR flaw, and the reason i use the word 'hate' as opposed to 'dislike'............THERE WAS ALMOST NO DRIVING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I probably wouldn't hate it as much if they didn't blatantly misrepresent the movie in all the previews I saw. They made it look like pure action, kind of like a fast and furious for adults. I was not expecting long, awkward silences and a love story.

Seriously, what a creative movie.
