I just picked up a nice clean 1994 318i w/ 214,000 miles. The inside is super clean. The outside is very nice. It needs a alternator. I will post some photos. I paid 1050. I got a great deal!!

Sounds pretty good to me...post some pics!
Did you check the usual stuff? Stomp test, check timing chain & cam gears, etc...
BTW, you might not need a rebuilt alternator...they're pretty expensive. We had a few guys on here that just replaced the regulator assembly and fixed the problem (Pelican lists the 80amp for $68 (http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/catalog/shopcart/BE36/POR_BE36_ELchrg_pg1.htm)). Get a load test on the battery & check the chassis for shorts. Might be a good alternator - that'd make it an even better deal, eh?
