I still have 4-6 weeks' worth of work & lead time left on this, but I want to try to get an idea of how many people plan to order a unit. I want to do a production run of 100 units since anything less basically means I am losing money (and if that were the case, I wouldn't be able to do this). So, if you are 90% sure you would buy the converter, please let it be known!
I really need to get onto BFc & r3v to ask the same thing. Aaaah marketing, every engineer's least favorite activity! If folks here want to do me a favor & spread the word among their E30 friends (without spamming forums or anything...I can do that), it would be appreciated! I am in the process of obtaining M30B35 & M20B25 AFMs, so I should have the calibration curves ready to program into the software soon.
Pricing:
US$209 shipped in the lower 48 states, additional shipping for other locations.
- Your order includes the MAF conversion box & wiring harness. Some cutting of stock wiring will be required, but I will be providing the necessary parts to make this reversible so you can reinstall the AFM very easily. Full documentation will be provided online, complete with photos of the process. - The sensor needs to be purchased separately, and can be had for as low as $110 new or less if used.
- The only wiring tools you will need are wire cutters, wire strippers & basic butt splice crimpers. You will also want to have a heat gun (usually $20 at just about any electronics or hardware store...and no, a hair dryer won't work).
- "Making it fit" is also the buyer's responsibility. For the most part, an M42 will just need an open element air filter & some long zip ties. Making this fit the stock air filter box requires cutting it (the MAF does not like being close to a square outlet), and I have plans to produce an adapter that fits a cut-up box if I can sell enough converters.
Thanks guys!

I'll pass the word along.
Good luck with this, IMHO a prod run of 100 is a very high number...unless you added an M20/30 option.

Going to tell my buddy about this

I'm willing to get one ....

Pretty sure I would be in as long as it fits and works with my set up.
