Some have called me nuts because it is a replacement for a 98 M3, but with all the problems I had the the M3 I haven't looked back.

Holy CRAPOLA!  Haha I was going to buy that car!  On Autotrader for $4900 right?  And I was literally going to buy it but when asked about any paintwork or accidents, the owner said that he knew that the driver side front fender was replaced but wouldn't tell me how or why.  He even gave me the you shouldn't care attitude when asked about it.  I then offered him $4200 and he turned it down.  Oh well, it is a low mileage, nicer version of my 91 318is, but I paid $2K, so I'm happier anyways.  Either way, nice car man, at least get the ride height down to "is" specs though, that thing is ready for a rally! :)  Haha you even used the PO's pics....just noticed that the "i" doesn't have shadowline trim, bummer.

Holy crap!  I was checking out this car as well.  Seller seemed nice and knowledgeable, and the car looked super clean.  I saw it up on Windy City BMWCCA forums.  I was just about to check it out when you bought it I guess.  I ended up finding an Alpine White with almost the exact same miles (slightly less) up in Milwaukee in my depression!  I'll post up picks soon, I recently broke my collar bone and can't even drive it for another week or so :(

You've got to be kidding me?!  That is the other one I was looking at.  White, one family owned, also 74K miles, grey cloth, crank sunroof, minor rust on trunklid, and a bunch of stickers is what I remember!  haha  How's it treating you?

Same here, I "upgraded" from my '97 M3. haha.

It's great!  Was an old lady's car, and the son (around 40) had it for a couple of years.  Interior is mint, exterior near mint with the minor rust you mentioned that I'll knock out in the Spring, and it runs like a top.  I have all the maintence records back to the original purchase.  I'm very very happy :D  It was definitely well taken care of, no accidents, serviced at the dealership, etc...  Guess it was originally the father's who passed away shortly after the original purchase, so they kept it mint in his honor.  The son is taking over his dad's other car, a late 80's Benz, so I got lucky!

Brilliantrot Hotness!  Nice find.

What was your problems with the E36 M3?  I started to think about a low milage E36 318is I saw, but am a little scared of the M series due to cost of parts.

You know ///M = Money!

What was your problems with the E36 M3?

Absolutely nothing except the normal wear and tear parts. For me, I moved back into the city and you can't usually go over 40mph. The 318is was a better choice for me since I could park that thing a lot easily on the streets and get better gas mileage. Also had to devote my efforts to my neglected Tii.

I do really miss the rear fold down seats though...
