Title: fuse 19 blows!!!
Post by: nickmpower on March 15, 2006, 10:26:41 PM
Well when i got my car fuse 19 was blown, so i replaced it and it blew again. Next time im at the auto parts store i will buy a bunch of 7.5 fuses so i can see if i can find exactly what triggers it, but is there anything common? The main thing i miss is the mirrors dont work but its incharge of

auxiliary fan
interior lights (these work)
power mirrors
AC compressor (clutch is shot)

From memory, interior lights run through Fuse 21 don't they?

Is the AC belt off?  I'd start with the wiring to it, mostly because it is more accessible.

The electrical troubleshooting guide has all the components that run off of the fuses and shows the gauge and color of the wire that goes to it, and all the connectors.  I'd get that open and start chasing the circuit.

Shorts are a PITA.

OK, so...

Thanks to Febi we have the guide in pdf format in the Reference section.

Page 0670-12 shows that 19 controls the Interior Lights Timer, the Dual Temperature Switch, the mirror control switch, and the AC Compressor Control Unit.

If you go to page 6454-0, you can see the dual temp switch.

6330-0 shows the interior lights - does yours have the timer unit?  Mine does not, so this page doesn't apply to mine...

And, 6452-0 shows the AC compressor...

Like I said, I'd start with the wiring under the hood, so all the AC stuff first.  Check for shorts/ breaks/ burned insulation, continuity, all that.
