Its here, so now the transition begins.....less time on e46 forums and more time here.
Couple quick questions.....
1) the car stalls out unless it is kept above 1500 rpms, cousin said it has something to do with the hoses, any input from you guys.
2) Teh flywheel squeels like a mofo if the clutch is completely depressed, thoughts on this too please.
Right now the plan is to flush all the fluids, change the top, and change the hoses...unless you guys think its something else. It also probably needs new control arm bushings.... lots of steering wheel vibrations @ 65mph but nowhere else.
Now that the car is mine i can properly diagnose the problems...with your help of course.
Pix in like 8 hours, but for now SLEEP!!!

The engine bay is a dirty mutha.....anyone wanna buy my rims?

looks nice!
definitly check the bushings, im sure they haven't even been replaced (bought my car with shot bushings all around), check the hoses you probably have a vacuum leak somewhere.
Hope you find the forum helpful!

Stalling sounds like a loose or leaking hose for sure - I forgot to reconnect one of the hoses once (I believe the one directly beneath the main air intake boot) and I had exactly that same problem.

The throwout bearing could be the squeal when the clutch is depressed. Since you have to pull the transmission it might be a good time for the clutch depending on miles. Somewhere I've seen a spec for the thickness of the disc. Only hillbillys like me just do the throwout bearing.
Lokks like good car though. How many miles?
-
He said 193k....but according to the odo only 190k :D
.....thats not exactly a reliable source is it:(

Congrats looks like a good score for $900. Definantly check the hose's & clean the ICV too. Any way you'll love the vert

Very nice! Loving the color!

Looks great in those pictures and $900 is a great deal.
The stalling definitely sounds like a vacuum leak. My guess is that it is that someone pulled off the intake and when they reattached it, they didn't notice the small vacuum hose under the intake. I did this once and I had the same symptoms - it would stall out unless I had the throttle depressed.
If that isn't it, you can try the carb cleaner technique. Spray the cleaner on the hoses when the car is running. The engine will surge when you spray the spot where the vacuum leak is.
