Title: Cylinder head cover

Ever since I have had my E30 318is 3 of the bolts that hold down the Cylinder head cover have never done up and just spin in the hole does anyone have a idea as to how I may fix this

It's a common problem. You're going to have to helicoil the holes.  Pretty easy actually.

Just done a quick search and there are a load of different ones do you know what sort I need

Just get a helicoil kit to match the size and pitch of the valve cover bolts. They are 6mm but I'm not sure what the thread pitch is.  

The kit should come with the appropriate sized drill bit for the job.

just be careful.. there is no need to torque these bolts/nuts. just a little tight.
