Changed my oil pan gasket a few weeks ago and found half circle metal pieces in my oil pan. What are they my car runs great doesnt have loud ticking noise except at start up for like a couple seconds. It has a new tensioner and the sprockets werent pointy car has about 265k miles im getting about 35 mpg hwy on this thing i run 15/40w oil just curious as to what the hell they can be from and how close this engine is to death

pieces of the chain.
-
serious wow how do just pieces of it come off
-
Yeah, they do. They're only the outer row of the timing chain if my guess is right. I was skeptical too, but the chain was apparently somewhat overbuilt.

I'm guessing it's time to replace that chain, etc. YESTERDAY!

I saw those in my oil pan too, and I couldn't figure out where they came from. So that's what they are!
