I have the complete exhaust out of the M42 318i, all the way back from the manifold to the muffler. Can I sell the whole thing as it is or do I have to remove the Cat. converter first? This is regardless of the money I could make out of it.

I'd separate it just for the sake of shipping. Those cats have a reputation for falling apart internally, don't they?

They're a little fragile when hot, but still pretty strong.
There are EPA/DEQ regulations against selling used cats, but they're not going to come knock down your door unless you're running a huge operation.
I'd just try to sell it locally.

You have to sell the cat as "scrap", but I would just personally scrap it myself, youll most likely get more. I scrapped the cats off an E36 325i parts car I had and got $125 a piece for them (2 cats).
