Last winter, my fan started to make grinding noises. Then it would start to run then stop, It would turn on and off sperratically, making weird grinding noises every once and a while. Then it stopped working all together.
My question is what would cause this, and whats the easiest, fastest and cheapest way to fix this, moneys tight and it's Freeeezing out side.
:( Ice is covering all my windows on the inside, from the lack of heat. :(

Does any one know where to get a .Pdf file of a 318 service Manuel, that would explain how to get to it

It's very easy to get at. You'll have to pull the rubber firewall seal & the plastic wire covering across the firewall, then un-nut the metal wire channel thing.
IIRC there are five small bolts that hold the cover plate on top of the fan motor housing. Get them out, pull the plate, then un-do the white plastic retaining straps to remove the outer fan plenum cover.
Finally, you can pull the resistor pack from underneath, and the fan motor itself. It's retained by a spring clip; just pry that out. Be sure to pull the two power connectors, then it'll be in your hands.
It sounds much harder than it is, takes a lot to explain but it's pretty obvious when you're looking at it.
