Hi, have someone some experient of Nitro in M42 or can point me to info about wet-nitro system.

I have a wet Nos setup waiting to be fitted, will be running 15-20 psi and a 50hp shot.
From speaking to people i have heard that wet nos kits are very safe, and can be used many times over without any dramas.

yeah I have a friend up here w/ a viper red mr2. He has the full JDM (ecu and everything) turbo swap. His car is pretty freakin fast. He also put a 40 wet shot on for insurance ;)
He was running 8.7 @ the 1/8 w/ the 40 shot. He just installed 60 shot nossels but hasn't been able to drag it yet b/c the strips up here are down for the winter.

actually, it was an 8.37 WITHOUT the spray..... 7.7 with the 40 shot:)

Nitrous Oxide is very hard on your piston rings, connecting rods, head bolts, head gasket, etc... When nitrous oxide is used it greatly increases the amount of heat and pressure in the combustion chambers, which can overstress the metal. If its used on the m42 or any engine, it probably wont hurt the engine the first time, but after a few times it could have negative effects. Here’s something I heard one of my friends say... Babies get bottles, Men get blown.

thats a good one! but who wants to bother blowing an m42? a supercharger or turbo set up costs more then i payed for my 318i!

if you use 50hp shot you dont have to worry , but in moments when you make shot be karefol watch only when rpm nidlle is up to 4000rpm then is save if you make the shot before 4000rpm it has big risk for pistons
many people use 75 even 100hp on 1,8l motor on 10,5 CR but they make ignition timing coretions and don't have problems

nitrous is an oxidisor so when its injected in to the engine its creates more oxygen. Turbos do the same thing by forcing extra air in to the
cylinder. so when you have added more oxygen to the cylinder than the factory ecu is tuned for than youve created an extremely lean condition which creates extreme heat and causes preignition or " detination" which destroys engines. That being said if you install a nitrous system or a turbo or a "blower" (super charger) you have to compensate all that extra with more fuel. To accurately do that you need wide band o2 and some sort of efi tuner or something to ramp up fuel to keep your AFR's in the safe zone. What im using is Tuner pro and an ostrich emulator for tuning on the fly and once i get my tune dialed in i burn a new chip with my burn2 chip burner. you cannot (burn over the stock chip you will have to buy a re writeible chip. theyre cheap off moats.com) but the fact of the matter is n2o (nitrous) does essentialy the same thing a turbo or super charger does but whith a chemical compound and it can be very safe. Now if you buy a "wet" nitrous system that means the system taps in to your vehicles fuel system and usues 2 solinoids one for the fuel and one for the nitrous and it mixes the nitrous with the fuel for you so there shouldnt be a need for a tune unless you want to change ignition maps and stuff. so the wet system is more of a bolt on spray and pray kind of set up. but at a low shot 50 ish and you match the propper szed fuel jet for what nitrous jet your using acording to the nitrous manufacturer you used then you should be okay. the dry kits can be dangerous if you dont tune your engine to add fuel at WOT but if you do than you should be A okay.

forgot to mention. YOU ONLY SPRAY NITROUS AT WOT! and im using an Innovative MTX-L wideband for AFR monitoring. Im instlling a Zex dry shot system right now on my bone stock m42. ill let you guys know how it goes. its called the "Safeshot" by Zex and it only allows up to a 35 shot of nitrous so its very conservitive. check it out. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/zex-82357/overview/
