Hi All,

Am new to the forum and happy new year to all.
Can any one tell me how to decifer engine numbers.
Have an M42 from an E36is. the engine number is 184S1 04617715.

I think 04 says it was built in Munich, but want to work out its build date.

why not just pull the vin from the car?
