So today I was programming dad's Volvo's HomeLink garage opener and the idea of integrating it into the e30 would be pretty cool. I found a homelink setup from an e38/e32 and it looks like it would work. Two wires that come out are power/ground. Here is a picture of the unit.

Any input? Do you think it would work?

Where would you put it?

I don't see why it wouldn't work. I'd install it in the headliner, behind the crank or delete the status panel. There is also a lot of space in the center console for something that small. Delete the rear ash tray & tap the cigarette lighter to power it.

probably in the knee Bolster or in the rear center console.

I was thinking about that too.

Could you fit it where the check panel is? Mine's just the useless "Put on your seatbelt" symbol so I'd love to put something useful there.

Yeah, All you need is a ground and a switched 12v source.

yea that could be pretty slick just would need to put it in a good spot where it can send a good signal
