Does anyone know where I can find a reputable kit to replace my exhaust manifold studs and nuts? everywhere I look, they're all for the 6-pots and apparantly won't fit my M42.
Also, being in Australia, if anyone overseas makes a suggestion...make sure they ship internationally :P
Cheers,

Hi Jester,
I just did a head rebuild on my M42 and got new studs from getbmwparts.com
I'm pretty sure they do International shipping, since they use UPS as their carrier.
Studs Part # 7129908199
I got all of them for less than $10 USD
I reused my old hex nuts as they seemed in decent shape, but here is the part # if you want to order new ones: 11721437202

cheers DPINEDA.
That was a helpful site. found exactly wat i was looking for.
gonna sound like the biggest newbie by asking this, but how many studs does the exhaust manifold need? RealOEM.com has a question mark in the quantity section for them.

If I'm not mistaken it was 12. I can count them for you later tonight.

12 sounds about right. but yeah, if u could count them that would be great. just to double check :)

That number you gave for the studs was missing a 0 on the front? Also, that came up with the studs for the head mounting of the cam cradle.
I see Pelican is saying 8mm studs for the 318i/iC (without a year reference) and 7mm studs for the M42 (92-96).
Both Penske and RealOEM have diagrams that show 7mm studs. Anyone know which it is? I need to order these and I am not at home to check the size.
Thanks!

ETK says the following:
M42 Engine requires 13 of each:
Stud (M7x45): 07 12 9 908 199
Nut: 11 72 1 437 202
M44 Engine requires 12 of each:
Stud (M7x42): 11 12 1 744 057
Nut: 11 72 1 437 202
Both engines use different quantities of nuts and studs, as well as differing in actual stud length (M42's are longer).
