Title: Camshaft Position Sensor
Post by: bimmermanic on December 06, 2010, 12:54:30 PM
Greetings all! Is the Camshaft Position sensor from the m42 and the m44 the same? Are they interchangeable? I know these engine are close kin; but i'm hoping they can be the same

I believe the M42's sprockets have lobes on, whereas the M44's sprockets do not. A quick look in my ETK and they both throw up different part numbers:
M42 sensor p/n: 12 14 1 734 813
M44 sensor p/n: 12 14 1 743 072

I think the sensors are unique to each engine.

They are different to each engine.
They are different heights (ie IRRC the probe part is longer on the M42 one).

I think from memory they throw different voltages on the outputs as well.

Hop ethis helps.
