OK, we have decals for the club and it is from a steady source. I know that there are folks in here that would love to sport a T-Shirt and mug (I like tea & occasionally coffee so I want a mug!). So...let's run some logistics:
Does anyone here have a source for shirt prints? I have seen a lot of trash screen printing jobs...the stuff cracks & comes off after all of 3 washes. Can we get some info on processes that produce quality results. Obviously it will cost more...but if it lasts as long as 3 cheapo shirts and costs 1.5x as much, it is a good value.
Mugs. Who can get prints on them? And I say we have either 2 sizes, or just LARGE ones. I hate tiny mugs...have to refill the things after 1p sips. Let's do soemthing BIG, a little out of the ordinary and aactually able to keep us hydrated!
Both drink-ware and apparel are a lot more economical in bigger quantities, but I think we should get at leat 3 designs made. Options are nice!
So, those are the not-fun aprts of this, but they are also the most important.
Now, the FUN parts. Designs. I really like the color scheme of the forum logo. It was discussed at length for the decals...the BMW logo and anythign "too" close to it are no-no's. Big companies get really upset when someone uses their logo, especially when $ is involved. So, that is one idea for a design...nice and simple, professional and to the point.
I like the design of my sig (personally). A shirt with a penciled e30 and the "Revolution of the Four's" seems neat to me. Obviously we need to keep the color count down for the clothing, so I would have to knock it down to black, greenish and maybe something bluish. The mugs I believe can have all sorts of coloring.
Anyway, if you have some ideas let's see them. Try to keep the color count to 3 (4 counting the white shirt's base color). Muga...try not to make ones where it is a solid picture printed, leaving ugly borders making it obvious that it was a photo splattered on...make it flow and easy on the eyes. Anyway, what do you have???

I'd buy a mug in a heartbeat.

For T-shirts, I've printed with Kurt Brunetto at brunetto t-shirts (http://www.brunettotshirts.com) several times. Good prices, very good quality, reasonably prompt service.
For the shirts, if someone can create something that's vectorized, it'd come out much better than if it's raster art. Maybe a 3D CAD-style render of the grill or something? I'll see if I can think of anything.
-
Agreed. Vector is key for this as trying to resize raster images is clunky and often comes out looking unprofessional.
I used to be really good with Adobe Illustrator like 6 years ago. I have since forgotten most of what I knew. Who here is good at using the vectorize feature (ir whatever it was called) to capture raster image outlines and trace them into vector? The pic in my sig would be reasonably easy, and I have the PDF file with everything in layers. All the color shading is layer effects, so it can all be switched off.
Anyway, vector-art gurus chime in!

I want a T or 2. Also, just brainstorming here but, what about hooded sweat shirts and beir steins?
What images do you guys have in stock?
-
Beer Steins / glasses would be awesome. I would definitely sport an M42Club beer glass with my favorite brew in it.
Hoodies & stuff are fine as well...it all just comes down to quantity pricing and how much folks are willing to pay.

I'd definitely be interested in a shirt or sweater.

For a 100% heavy cotton T-shirt I would be willing to pay, say, $15-18
for a heavy cotton hood, $25-35
for a stein, $20-35
Just throwing some ballpark numbers out.
Also, we could start a design "contest" and vote.
I can't find it now but what about the "blueprint" rendering of a stock 318 with the front, back and side view? Black and white.
or how about this?
-
Oh Man, it would be HOT to have that M42 section drawing on a shirt. It would SCREAM dork, but meh, who cares.
We could do a design contest. Set some dates, rules and that stuff...when the deadline hits votes are taken and the top designs chosen. I think we learned a little from the Decal ordeal...good enough is good enough.
I say we have like 2 - 3 different designs, personally. I like the engine shirt, but I would also like to do one with a big M42Club text in the forum's colors and some sort of witty/informative catch phrase in smaller text below it/on the back. This is a brainstorming session so put together just about anything you want just to get the creativity flowing. It does not have to be perfect or amazing or anything, just ideas to build from.

how about (These are 2 separate items) had a couple of extra minutes
-
I'll take 2 stickers.. A grey hoodie swetshirt would work since I stained mine the first time I wore it... F*ckin coffee...
DLM
-
yes the engine ones of course. we have to do that. maybe use the back with a vengeance thing somehow too.
-
I love the engine design, very unique. Hopefully these will all be available.

um this thread is from september.

even though its old let me know if any design work is needed..
Im working on making some t-shirts my self ;)

So, who has connections with mug-printers? I want a big oversized, novelty coffee mug with the club name & cool graphic logo. NOW!

I want a big, oversized, novelty cupholder... sigh...
I'm considering driving around with one of those beer-holder-helmets... for coffee, naturally...
excuse my OT rant....
-
No excuse needed. There is no shame in discussing the ridiculous.
-
What about a beir stein? Just a crude example. Open to thoughts regarding a stein and artwork.
-
mugs would be way cool.
I am also going to do another run on shirts probally August sometime. I am up for new designs if you have any samples e-mail me doucy2@horizonview.net If all else fails I will do the exact same shirt as the 1st time around.
-
FL318iS - I like the beer mug idea, a lot. I have one that looks exactly like that, just with a different logo.
doucy - I think we should look into another design for a shirt. Not only will you sell more, but we could do an annual shirt design or somethign of the like. It would be a year in August since we started designing the first one lol.
-
Anyone else want a beir stein? BTW, if its a "possible" what artwork would be good?
