What are the best performance spark plugs for an M42 engine?
What do you guys have in your engines?
Thanks.

Personally I use NGK Iridium IX and stand by them as a great product!!

i use ngk or autolite copper's....

I was researching this last week. The consensus seems to be use the stock NGK plugs. Do NOT use the Bosch Platinum plugs, apparently they suck in our engines.

I use NGK coppers or Denso Iridiums on all my vehicles. I think the Denso plugs are now owned by NGK anyway.

I have Bosch Platinum 2/4's (can't remember which). They're okay I suppose, but then again, they are the only plugs I had since I bought it with some random worn out plugs.
I'd say stick to the NGK's. Everyone suggests them. Just wish I knew that when I bought mine...

There honestly isn't that much of a difference between different plugs. I did have an old Nissan Sentra that eventually stopped running when I used Bosch platinum plugs. More the car's trouble than the plugs, but still surprising.
I'd avoid anything that has a sloppy tolerance. The NGK's I buy usually have less than 5% tolerance (in ohms resistance). Worst was a set of Champion clearance specials that were over 25%. The very pricey iridiums might improve fuel mileage slightly.

I use ngk BKR6EQUP plugs and love em also use them on my e39 on

guess i joined a day late..i bought and installed a set of bosch platinum +2's. I use the Bosch in my m20 because everyone recomended them, i figured it would be the same with this engine..guess not..

Thanks for this thread, M42club!
I know the brand/type of spark plug is basic, but everybody's gotta ask for the first time around, right?
