Title: lower oil pan torque specs.

does anyone know the lower oil pan torque specs? im dropping my oil pan today to get a look, i found the upper pan bolt specs, but not the lower. can anyone give me a hand?

Very low... 10nm  It's all aluminum and will strip easily.  Some Loktite should keep them from backing out.

Good link! 10nm didn't feel like enough to me but I resisted the urge.  There isn't a lot of meat for the bolts to hold on to.

If you do find that you over-torque one, but don't completely strip it, you can do one of two things:  1) get a bolt that's about 5mm longer as the stock bolts don't bite all of the thread in the upper pan.  2) depending on which one you strip, some you can just get a longer bolt, say 10mm longer, and then put a nut on it from the top to tighten it down.

anyone ever replace the bolts with studs? seems like it would be a better long term solution.
