That's purty. How's it run?
Is that an OEM BMW e36 radiator fan? Does every M42 e36 have one? I was looking to get something like that for my e30.

yea it is,you need a late e36 318 for the electric fan, runs amazing for being on standerd ecu

You chipped a Motronic DME with the turbo? Or did you do a RRFPR?
How's the stock clutch holding up?
I'll look for the later model; most of the early ones I've seen still have the clutch fan.
-
nice setup!!

yea it has a chip, and a rrfpr, bigger injectors, the clutch couldnt cope so i fitted a spec stage 3 paddle clutch

thankyou

what intake mani is that?

Why are running a RRFPR if you are chipped and have bigger injectors?
-

its custom made

i dont thick the injectors were big enough so i see alot of you use rrfpr so i got one and it works perfect,im not changing to standalone just yet as this all works so well even cold start

edit: nevermind i see it now.
-

yes they are s50b32 i had them from a previous car but you can get them from ebay, they wernt that hard to fabricate, just take out the centre 2 itbs cut the linkages down, machine the edges and make some brackets to bolt to head,i turned my fuel rail around and adjusted the fuel in/out lines.you also need to cut the air rail so you can use the sevo/idle valve and make some brackets to hold it all down,it sound alot but once you buy a set you will see it not to hard at all, will try get some pics.

good to hear. can't wait to see how they all came together
Jester
amend: also forgive me for asking, but if not sticking a turbo on the engine, is there much point for ITBs? wats their significance?
-

dbilas. i have turbo + manifold + intercooler/piping, generally about 80% of what i need, but since even the ITBs are illegal here in the people's republic of california (that goes for turbo too), i'm debating just swapping to M50 instead... not sure.

they do give very good throttle responce and with cams would give you a good gain in bhp,but becarefull when getting a airbox made as you need to make sure that the intake runners are not short because you will not gain at all.

is that coz of emissions?that is a shame as you have all the bits, but those m50s are good engines and 200bhp out the box.

yes. there are two parts to the smog test here in california- the "sniffer" part which actually measures how clean you are, and the "visual" part where they look to see if any modifications you've done are on the state-approved list. my car passes the sniff test fine (way under limits, actually), but i had to try 4 different shops before i found someone who was willing to ignore the ITBs.

if you was to turbo your car i take it you would have to have a different management to run it lean to pass the sniffer, worth asking the shop if he would ignore the turbo aswell.

How much boost you pushing?
-

I thought you need to run an rrfpr if you don't have standalone?
-
How much boost you pushing?
runs 10psi with no problem,i dont have standalone just a chip,i needed bigger injectors but had a rising rate regulator from a previous project so i went with it and its been fine with it.
-
What turbo is that you are using? Also do you have any idea how much power its putting out?
I'd love to see a video of this thing running.
-
im using a subaru wrx turbo(td05h) i dont know the power yet but at a guess id say 250+,there are a couple of vids on youtube type in superpotter80

-
yea there are three of us that work at munich motors,we built two e30 s54 cars and my one,all three are our own project cars and all three pbmw featured witch is nice, got lots of pics of the two e30 if anybody wants to see them.

its a td05h 16g from a wrx subaru good for 360bhp
-
My e30 m42 turbo on stock internals (machined pistons to 9:1cr) is running 23psi just fine with remapped ecu and 440ccm injectors :) UP the boost :D
But your intake manifold seems nice! any chance you can make one more and ship it to norway :)? I have the s50 itb setup but are struggeling to get a good plenum...
Nice build anyway :) thumbs up!
