Title: Wandering steering?
Post by: spanish_pants on November 01, 2010, 03:23:16 AM
Hi all,

I recently installed new Eibach front springs and Bilstien shocks on my is. I`ve noticed that while driving the steering feels imprecise, almost loose. Itīs as if any dip in the road causes the wheels to suddenly change direction.
Any idea as to what might be the cause?

Or your alignment is off slightly.  The tires need to be pointing the right way...of course.  Little differences make a big change in steering feel.

Thanks gentlemen.  I wanted to freshen up the front end components, including putting in either a Z3, E30 M3 or E36 M3 steering rack.
Unfortunately i happen to live in a country where everthing is done by incompetent prehistoric circus clowns in the best of circumstances.
Letīs hope they donīt mess up new tie rods and an alignment :D

You can get it pretty close with some home-made tools.  Just google it, if yo're within a degree or two it'll make a massive difference.
