If my engine is around 1,500 rpm or lower and i give it gas i get misfiring until about 2,000ish rpm's. I replaced the spark plugs, have a new fuel pump in it. sea foamed it, put injector cleaner in and new air filter. I have yet to replace the fuel filter. my friend said it could be that but i don't see how (although my knowledge is minimal about cars). any ideas?

Also at idle my engine is hunting for an rpm to sit at. it bounces 3-400 rpm at times. any idea whats causing this?

Have checked the spark plug leads or ignition coils?

not yet. i feel like an idiot though i need to change them. when i bought the car a mouse fell out of the engine compartment. it was living in the air intake box where it had a few inches of cracked nuts and molded where the mouse got sucked up to the air filter while the car was on. it had chewed the ends of the spark plug leads. the idle was bouncing from the beginning so is that what could be causing it? but the misfiring is new and the mouse is gone :D

and are they really ~$100 for a set for an m42? holy smokes! my daily driver Jetta were a fraction of that

Hyundai HT leads fit. I think it's the Sonata that had the same ones.
