Wow, looks like it's going to be really nice when it's done!
So was it originally red and then you painted the exterior black?
-
yes it's painted black afterwards. I think i will buy a new e30 and put the all good parts in because this is worn out, hate rust

This is a nice project for sure.
Could you explain how much of an extra "boost" the turbocharger provides?
Like, is the difference big in terms of aceleration compared to a standard M42 engine?
It sounds interesting, never owned a turbocharged car though, so Id like to know!
Also: Did you paint the car on your own, or was it done by an professional?
-
turbo is not installed yet! thinking of 7-10psi boost
take a look in the forum "Swaps, Turbos, Buildups" for similar builds
it's painted in a garage by me, that's professional :D
-
Looks nice. Could you not fix the rust in this one or is it gone to far?
-

I recommend you to install engine guard aluminium or composite, because you will have all engine bay fool of snow.
Consequence could be damaged cooling fan and other things...
Nice ride height for winter. Will you be driving on frozen lakes? Is it legal in Sweden to drive car on public roads with such tires?
-
i'm aware of the snow, i live in sweden.. ;)
only use rally tires on frozen lakes. it's not road legal :)

Go for m20 flywheel with 1mm clutch preload (measurement made from untouched by friction disc surface to pressure plate mounting surface). Will help you handle some 250hp for one season :P
-
Will change to M20b23 flywheel, M20 starter, M20 pressure plate and a 6-pad sintered clutch disc.
Also a electric fan is on the list :)
-
Skip the sintered clutch disc and buy a Sachs '618 pressure plate instead and use a standard 325 organic clutch disc. Will hold much better and also better driveability. Maybe a bit more pricey but you won't regret it in the long run.
That's the setup I use on my 318is turbo, works great.

i want to try some ice racing. a friend of mine upstate said that he might be able to setup a small event :D
-
frozen lake ~ 45cm thickness :)
In Lithuania ice thickness is about 40-50cm, but if it is not sanctioned racing or rally event you can get a quite big fine for that.
p.s. last weekend rally in Lithuania pics:

Im interested how the engine now sounds, with your Turbocharger.

remove bolts and mount spacers between, simple :)

Where did you get the spacers? And what size studs are you using? I dislike the lug bolts on our cars.

Excellent. I'll have to do a bit of translation though (and wait for the exchange rate to head more favorably toward the dollar).
