yesterday evening..coming back from work.. i had pole position at the traffic lights, nothing fancy...since my engine/gearbox was warmed up i decided to do a little sprint.
my 220K km M42 haven't seen 5000+ rpm in a while.. and I thought i want to feel a nice push in my back :)
When the lights went green I went for it, getting away normally (not creating wheelspin, to expensive snowtires) and then floored it... hitting 6000 rpm before shifting into 2nd gear... when i got it around, beh don't know, 60km/h ... a police officer stepped onto the road and pulled me over.
oh dear... what did i do? :P
buona sera...
Why did you do that? -> just like my car revving high, it's so addictive...i said that with a big grin.
officer: "you know you we can revoke your driving license for that?"
me: "eek, really?!"
Officer: "may i see your driving license and papers please"
me: "sure thing" (also gave my passport, i'm Dutch..but living in italy)
They talked with each other and decided, based on my dutch driving license, to give me a speeding ticket (actually for making to much noise) and not to revoke my driving license...
bloody hell, good thing i never changed my dutch passport/driving license into an italian version...if i had done that, i was now without a license!!
The italian police is quite known to be a pain in the arse, but i found the oppositeto be true... just be respectfull/nice... and they are ok to you.
Maybe my big grin helped also... i'm was never angy nor dissapointed, hell i found it all quite exciting!
My first ticket with my first car, this one is going to be framed on the wall ;-)
At the end... i got a 38,00 EUR ticket for making to much noise/speeding/dangerous driving warning.
(good thing i removed the open air filter a few weeks ago, otherwise it would make even more noise)
ROFL, hardly a lesson to make me stop doing it...

38 euro?!?! Does that include any supplimentary fees?
My last speeding ticket "fine" was $42 IIRC. After the mandatory fees were added it came to over $200!

Police are dicks no matter where you live. You're supposed to be sheep that obey and don't jump wildly all over the place for no reason. Keep in line, please.
Plus, you admitted to the officer you were having a little fun. That's not allow in our new, modern society. You must be a mindless drone incapable of emotion. Do as you're told, please.

Last time the polizia gave me a ticket was in Napoli in 97. I'll always remember that one.

nope, just that... 38 EUR ticket... and a trip to the post office to pay for it.
(yes, italy is supposed to be part of Europe.. but the running of the country is more like a 3rd world country...paying your elektrical/gas/water bills @ post office, the Netherlands stopped with that 40 years ago!)
